ASPIRE - to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils

In order to redress the imbalance in attainment and progress between disadvantaged pupils and their more advantaged peers, the Improvement and Learning Service has introduced the ASPIRE initiative (Aspire; Secure; Provide; Intervene; Respond; Evaluate) – a dedicated focus aimed at improving the outcomes for disadvantaged pupils across the East Riding.

Schools have signed up to a ‘disadvantage charter’ committing to the ASPIRE initiative, identified a key individual within the school to act as Disadvantage Champion and have been offered support and guidance through a range of CPD events, supporting documentation and bespoke projects.

Key documents and guidance materials relating to ASPIRE and the Disadvantage Champions network can be downloaded from the panel at the foot of the page, including copies of the ASPIRE charter and ASPIRE booklet in PDF format.
