GARY - what you have learned.


  • listen and follow stories, taking in events, characters and roles
  • retell stories
  • think up your own ideas for the story, to change and explore it further
  • create characters and give them names
  • use descriptive words like ‘ strong’ and ‘evil’ 
  • change your voice to play a part
  • solve problems and show good decision-making when choosing costumes
  • use colours to represent character types
  • play together with children in order to develop your ideas and your play
  • direct other children in their roles. 

Future ideas - you could:

  • demonstrate your story to other children
  • record the story by making a photo book
  • write captions for pictures
  • utilise the workshop area to create resources – masks, jewellery
  • look at murtis of Rama and Sita and talk about what you notice
  • think and talk about special people
  • talk about why Rama and Sita might be special to Hindus
  • invite Hindu members of the community to come into school to discuss arti and puja in their home
  • develop ways of working with other children to negotiate roles, take turns and share fairly.
