Work experience is defined as: "A placement on an employer's premises in which a pupil carries out a particular task or duty, or range of tasks and duties, more or less as would an employee, but with the emphasis on the learning aspects of the experience." (DfES1997)
Education 2 Work aims to provide Key Stage 4 pupils with a quality assured health and safety checked placement, which gives them the opportunity to achieve their learning objectives.
All organisations that participate in the EDUCATION 2 WORK (E2W) organised work experience programme are required to adopt the local authority approved policy & guidelines on administrative issues for schools and local authority establishments.
Academies and independent schools should also have a policy of equal depth and rigour.
The policy gives a step-by-step guide on how to deal with important issues such as health & safety, legal and insurance requirements.
