Think, pair, share - groups pupils belong to, recapping work covered in Unit 2.1

Revisit the promises made when joining a uniformed organisation; what do they say about what we believe in?  Are there gestures and actions that are carried out as a group?

Look at artefacts linked to Christianity and another faith; what do they say about what a faith member believes?

What is a ‘belief’? What do I believe in?

Do others believe the same as me?

What do Christians believe?

What do members of another faith believe?

What do people of faith do or wear because of their belief?

How do I treat objects that are precious to me?

How do people of faith treat objects that are precious?

Where are sacred stories found?

How are sacred texts treated?

Interview a local faith member; what do they believe? What are they committed to?

Look at the Bible and another sacred text to explore key beliefs (see Key Content)

Explore commitments made by significant people of faith for example St Francis of Assisi, underpinned by their beliefs

Unpack a simple version of the Lord’s Prayer and talk about what a believer might pray for (Godly Play)

Talk about how some artefacts linked to Christian beliefs, and the beliefs of one other faith, are used

In person or online, visit a church and a place of worship linked to the other faith to see the artefacts in context and/or in worship

Make links between key beliefs of two faiths

Identify belief and commitment in faith stories

Take part in a seasonal festival or celebration; unpack the beliefs that underpin it

Explore how beliefs are expressed through actions and gestures in worship and celebrations

Look at how key artefacts are used in daily and weekly religious life; what beliefs do they symbolise?

Consider the similarities and differences in the beliefs of people of different faiths

Explain why a piece of sacred writing is important to a believer

Consider the hopes and beliefs expressed in, for example, the prayer of St Francis of Assisi and the hymn Make Me a Channel of Your Peace and the poem Canticle of the Sun

Explain the Christian beliefs in Mother Theresa’s Prayer

Identify similarities between artefacts, gestures and actions linked to Christianity and one other faith; focus on one aspect, such as prayer

Reflect on why Jesus is inspirational to Christians today

Why is a key figure inspirational to members of another faith?

Where do faith members get their beliefs and values? Where do mine come from?

How faith members show their beliefs through commitment; how do I show my beliefs and commitment?

Talk about examples of cooperation between religious traditions
